Summary and Response Reflection
When I started writing this paper I was confused because I had a lot of characters in mind to write about. When I finally chose one I just started writing and putting down quotes without even knowing my thesis. I didn’t have a clear idea of where I was going and finally came up with a thesis after I was done with the first draft. In comparison to the identity narrative, this essay was harder. It is easier for me to write about my life than to write about someone else’s work. From this paper, I learned the importance of peer review and making multiple drafts. For this essay, I only did the first draft and then jumped to the final draft and now I regret that. When I was reading the paper out loud in front of the class I found a lot of mistakes in it. After turning in the final draft I also had a lot of new ideas that I could add to the essay but I didn’t since I only worked on it twice. To be honest I saw peer reviews and doing multiple drafts as extra work. Therefore I didn’t pay much attention to what my peers said about my paper nor I wrote more than two drafts. From this assignment, I learned that I should do multiple drafts and look at peer reviews as opportunities to improve my essays and not like extra work.
