Live Under Covid-19
We have been on quarantine for over a month now and finally, there is some news of reopening New York. The last time I saw the news the governor said that PAUSE would continue until May 15 and I really hope that things get better by then.
This crisis has affected people in many ways. Some people believe that the damage the shutdown is doing to the economy is worst than the damage the coronavirus is doing. Therefore, thousands of people in different states have been protesting. They have been blocking roads and meeting in front of state buildings. I do not think that what they want is wrong, but the way that they are doing it will make it harder to get. I understand that they want to go back to work since not everyone can stay at home for so long. Especially since most people are spending more and making less money if making any at all. But by meeting in large groups they are only making it harder for everything to go back to normal. I do believe that people should keep an eye on the government and the power that they take whenever there is a crisis. I do not want to downgrade the seriousness of COVID-19, but there are many other diseases that kill more people, and before I do not remember that so serious guidelines where put in place. An example of this is in Dominican Republic I have seen many videos of people being arrested for “disrespecting” the authorities. I do not think that people should insult or disrespect the police, but they should not be arrested for uploading a video in their house saying something stupid about the police. That is a violation of freedom of speech and people are too scared to pay attention to things like this. There are many other rights that are being violated around the world that do not need to be restricted to enforce the quarantine. Things like this should not be ignored even through this hard time.
