Exploratory Essay Reflection

The hardest part of writing this paper was doing the research. It took me hours to find information about Henry Roth since he gave few interviews and died over 20 years ago. He tried to keep his life private and rejected many writers that wanted to write him a biography. Proving my thesis was also very hard as I had to prove 3 or 4 different points and I don’t think I was successful at proving all of them. If I had to do more research about Roth, I’d like to learn more about his adult life and teenage years. Most of the information I found went from his yearly childhood to when he was very old, and I want to know more about the time in between. I’d like to read Redemption: The Life of Henry Roth a bibliographic book about him. I was only able to read one or two pages that I found online, and I learned a lot about Roth and that helped me a lot. I think that my thesis was stronger in this essay than in the previous one due to the exercises that we did in class. I think it was clear and gave the reader a good idea of what I was going to talk about. Although I do have to work more on the organization of the essay. I must improve how I connect the evidence and my explanations. A problem that I have is that I don’t write enough. I guess this happens because I don’t write so often and sometimes I assume that people know what I am talking about.
