Critical Analysis Reflection

This was by far the hardest paper in this class because of how long it was. But after I started writing I realized that it had to be this long in order to do a good job explaining my argument. It was harder than writing the exploratory essay because this one had three parts. I had to find two stories with the “outsiders” theme and a scholarly article that supported the ideas I had. We have read many stories in this semester, so I had to go back and read many of them in order to figure out what I wanted to write. So far back that one of my stories was the first one we ever read in this class. The research for this paper was also harder because I had to find an article with my same ideas, and it took me a long time to get the correct key words to find the article that I used. Although when I found the article it was perfect, it made a very similar argument to the one that I had in mind and used examples of novels that we had already read in class.

Another challenge of writing this essay was the fact that it was during quarantine. It is much harder for me to manage my time when I am not physically going to college every day. There are many distractions at home, and it is much harder to concentrate. Something else that I struggled with in this paper was my organization. In the feedback that I got from Prof. Kratka she pointed this out. She suggested that I rearranged some of my paragraphs to make it clearer. From this paper I learned that I have to work more on my concentration in the future even if I am not physically attending college.
